on day
4, we completed below POI:
+ Meiji Jingu
+ Meiji Jingu
+ Yoyogi Park
+ Harajuku (Takeshita Street, Omotesando)
+ Tokyo Camii Mosque at Yoyogi Uehara
+ Shibuya (Hachiko statue, Shibuya Crossing, late lunch at Curry & Naan, early dinner at Gyumon Halal BBQ Restaurant)
+ Akihabara
+ Tokyo Camii Mosque at Yoyogi Uehara
+ Shibuya (Hachiko statue, Shibuya Crossing, late lunch at Curry & Naan, early dinner at Gyumon Halal BBQ Restaurant)
+ Akihabara
+ Meiji Jingu (Shrine)
from ueno youth hostel we were staying, walked to the other way around (instead of towards okachimachi station that we frequented), we walked to yushima station on chiyoda like and took train towards meijijingumae station.
meiji jingu (shrine) is around that area.
we witnessed a wedding ceremony on this day, as they normally did this ceremony on weekends here.
from www.japan-guide.com:
"Meiji Shrine (明治神宮, Meiji Jingū) is a shrine dedicated to the deified spirits of Emperor Meiji and his consort, Empress Shoken. Located just beside the JR Yamanote Line's busy Harajuku Station, Meiji Shrine and the adjacent Yoyogi Park
make up a large forested area within the densely built-up city. The
spacious shrine grounds offer walking paths that are great for a
relaxing stroll.
The shrine was completed and dedicated to the Emperor Meiji and
the Empress Shoken in 1920, eight years after the passing of the emperor
and six years after the passing of the empress. The shrine was
destroyed during the Second World War but was rebuilt shortly thereafter."
+ Yoyogi Park
from meiji jingu main entrace, walk to the right and there is the yoyogi park.
from www.japan-guide.com:
"Yoyogi Park (代々木公園, Yoyogi Kōen) is one of Tokyo's largest city parks, featuring wide lawns, ponds and forested areas. It is a great place for jogging, picnicking and other outdoor activities.
Although Yoyogi Park has relatively few cherry trees
compared to other sites in Tokyo, it makes a nice cherry blossom
viewing spot in spring. Furthermore, it is known for its ginko tree
forest, which turns intensely golden in autumn.
Before becoming a city park in 1967, the area where Yoyogi Park is located served as the site of the Olympic Village for the 1964 Tokyo Olympics, and before that, as a residential area for US military personnel."
+ Harajuku (Takeshita Street, Omotesando)
also, still in that meiji / yoyogi park area, which is all under harajuku continent, walk to the other side of the front gate of meiji jingu, now we took the left turn towards takeshita street. (turn right for yoyogi park, turn left for takeshita street).
takeshita street is famous for japan's most extreme teenage cultures & fashion styles.. oh sunday, one can witness some cosplay roles. and hence, the date for us.
from japan-guide.com, "referred to as Tokyo's Champs-Elysees, Omotesando is a one kilometer long, tree lined avenue, serving as the main approach to Meiji Shrine. Numerous stores, boutiques, cafes and restaurants,
including several leading fashion brand shops, stand along the avenue.
This area generally caters to an older and wealthier clientele than
Takeshita Dori.
+ Tokyo Camii Mosque at Yoyogi Uehara
from meijijingu station, we took train to yoyogiuehara station and walked (cant remember the mapping) towards tokyo camii mosque. beautiful!!! we performed our zuhr+asr prayers here.
+ Shibuya (Hachiko statue, Shibuya Crossing, late lunch at Curry & Naan, early dinner at Gyumon Halal BBQ Restaurant)
from yoyogiuehara station, we took train towards omotesando station on chiyoda line, and changed to hanzomon line and took train towards shibuya.
shibuya is famous for the biggest/busiest crossing and also hachiko statue (the saddest movie!! i cried like a child watching it).
from there, we walked towards, i dunno towards apa because matimatitamokasi took lead from now on and didnot write it in the costing&iteneri's file. hehehehe.
but the story was, we wanted to eat at gyumon halal bbq restaurant but found that the restaurant is close at that moment (445pm that time, it will be open again at 6pm kononnnya), but we were too hungry and decided to try the naan & curry at the other corner of that lot. (i ate the cheese nan with vege curry for 630yen, sodappp)...
only to find out (when we went back at gyumon halal bbq restaurant, that, that restaurant was actually open back at 5pm. lerrrrrrrrr, kitorg dah konyangggg kot. but we enter and sit there nevertheless.
and had 2 set of bbq set (a set is 4000yen consisting around 5 slices of each kind of beef parts). so total is 1600yen perperson.
+ Akihabara
from shibuya, we took train towards akihabara station.
(we had to cancel trip to shinjuku due to limited time).
akihabara is famous electrical town (sells many gadgets, electrical supplied, anime & manga and also maids cafe. there is a gundam cafe next to akihabara station but by the time we went there the cafe was already closed. sedih :(
the f&b:
+ breakfast at hostel. (i ate a pack of instant noodles)
+ ate castelha (100yen) & takoyaki (2x60yen each) near yoyogi park.
